S2 COGs on AWS Oct-2020 | The Sentinel-2 mission is a land monitoring constellation of two satellites that provide high resolution optical imagery and provide continuity for the current SPOT and Landsat missions. The mission provides a global coverage of the Earth's land surface every 5 days, making the data of great use in ongoing studies. This dataset is the same as the Sentinel-2 dataset, except the JP2K files were converted into Cloud-Optimized GeoTIFFs (COGs). Additionally, SpatioTemporal Asset Catalog metadata has were in a JSON file alongside the data, and a STAC API called Earth-search is freely available to search the archive. This dataset contains all of the scenes in the original Sentinel-2 Public Dataset and will grow as that does. L2A data are available from April 2017 over wider Europe region and globally since December 2018.

Today, Global Land's land cover team is happy to release annual updates to the 100m global land cover maps, covering the 2015-2019 period, including the same 23-class classification, versatile cover fractions for 10 classes, forest type layer and quality indicators on input data density and the confidence in the detected changes.

S-2 L2A Dec-2018 | The Level-2A product provides Bottom Of Atmosphere (BOA) reflectance images derived from the associated Level-1C products. Each Level-2A product is composed of 100x100 km2 tiles in cartographic geometry (UTM/WGS84 projection). Level-2A products are systematically generated at the ground segment over Europe since March 2018, and the production was extended to global in December 2018. Level-2A generation can also be performed by the user through the Sentinel-2 Toolbox using as input the associated Level-1C product (demonstrated below). Read more  Groups: LSI-VC

GFOI Coverage Reports Jul-2017 | The CEOS Space Data Coordination group (SDCG) coordinates space satellite data for CEOS initiatives, such as the Global Forest Observation Initiative (GFOI). In support of the SDCG, the CEOS Systems Engineering Office (SEO) produces historical coverage analyses utilizing the data archives for the Landsat, Sentinel-1, and Sentinel-2 missions. Currently, the SEO produces an individual report for more than 70 GFOI countries (listed below alphabetically).
