NIMBUS-SAR Mission

Objectives and Applications

NIMBUS SAR constellation will consist of twelve satellites providing 24/7, all-weather imaging of Earth’s surface, enabling observations of ground motion, infrastructure stability, and vegetation through cloud and darkness. It is part of the IRIDE programme, which represents an end-to-end system, consisting of sub-constellations of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites (upstream segment), ground-based operational infrastructure (downstream segment), and services tailored for the Italian Public Administration (service segment).
