WildFireSat Mission

Objectives and Applications

A system consisting of several satellites, carrying a suite of cameras providing co-registered MWIR, LWIR, and VNIR radiometric imagery. The satellite(s) will monitor wildfires daily, in late afternoon, to support 1) wildfire management and research, 2) smoke and air quality forecasting and 3) wildfire carbon emission reporting. The mission will be designed for an operational lifetime of 5 years, but with sufficient consumables for 7 years.
