Objectives and Applications BeaverCube is a 3U CubeSat, developed by MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and built in collaboration with students as part of an educational mission in aerospace science and technology. Launched in June 2021, BeaverCube measures VIS (visible) and LWIR (long wave infrared) spectral data to obtain colour and thermal images of the ocean surface and cloud tops, which have many applications including monitoring regional biological productivity and the effects of extreme weather events.
