Objectives and Applications
Launched in September 2012, CINEMA-1 (CubeSat for Ions, Neutrals, Electrons & MAgnetic fields - 1) was a nanosatellite within the TRIO-CINEMA (Triplet Ionospheric Observatory - CINEMA) constellation. CINEMA is an international nanosatellite mission of cooperative university institutions, including Imperial College London (ICL), Kyung Hee University (KHU), as well as NASA/ARC (Ames Research Center) and UCB/SSL (University of California, Berkeley/Space Sciences Laboratory). The mission had objective to provide critical space weather measurements, including unique high sensitivity mapping of ENAs (Energetic Neutral Atoms), and high cadence movies of ring current ENAs in stereo from low Earth orbit.
