Objectives and Applications The mission, called ANDESITE (Ad-hoc Network Demonstration for Spatially Extended Satellite-based Inquiry and Other Team Endeavors), will eject eight free-flying vector magnetometers from a 6U CubeSat, forming a nine-element short-baseline (<50 km) mesh network in space. The measurements will be analyzed collaboratively with ground-based auroral imagery in an effort to resolve kilometer-scale variability in the overlying field-aligned currents.
