RAVAN Mission

Objectives and Applications

RAVAN (Radiometer Assessment using Vertically Aligned Nanotubes) Pathfinder Mission was an 3U CubeSat mission with the objective to demonstrate a compact, low cost and accurate radiometer. The satellite was flown within NASA's inVEST (In-Space Validation of Earth Science Technologies) program with support by NASA's ESTO (Earth Science Technology Office), and launched in November 2016. The satellite measured Earth's radiative diurnal cycle and absolute energy imbalance to climate accuracies during its operational lifetime of 20 months.
