Objectives and Applications

Firefly is a low-cost NASA/GSFC led nanosatellite mission, a collaborative effort sponsored by NSF (National Science Foundation). The overall objective is to study the relationship between lightning and TGFs (Terrestrial Gamma-ray Flashes) which are sudden (transient) energetic bursts in the upper atmosphere.
